Our clients had purchased their home with a vision. A vision that would restore integrity and character that had been neglected for years. We designed additions to the rear of the home that would create a new kitchen, family room and mud room while restoring the original living room, dining room, stair hall and entry. A two story enclosed porch was removed from the front façade and replaced with a one story open front porch that allowed the home to be more humanly scaled from the streetscape. By removing the stucco from the second floor and replacing with cedar shingles, the home received more horizontal lines that allow the details and textures added to be more sympathetic to the scale of the home. New windows were custom created to replace the original arts and crafts patterns on the home and french doors created to match those originally on the exterior. Custom colors for siding, trim and windows were selected to soften the materials and to evoke those colors popular during the arts and crafts period.
